UNOFFICIAL mascot of the Surfers’ Marathon, Doug Kunhardt, will be stepping out in his almost equally famous yellow polly shorts this Valentine’s Day for the 30th time.

THE RACE IS ON

Unfair as it may sound, Doug still fits into the same shorts at 53 as he did at 23 when he took part in the first Surfers’ Marathon, founded by his long-standing friend, Athol Bradfield.

Athol arrived in the city this week to take part in the marathon and has never missed the five-year celebration mark. For the past 30 years he has been commuting to East London from Canada where he lives. Readmore…
